I want to inform you on the opening of two Co-Diplomacy Master courses;

Master of First Level in EU Project
Master of Second Level in Tourism
in the Economic Faculty of the University "Aleksander Xhuvani" of Elbasan, Albania on their first edition respectively 2007-2008 and 2007-2009. The other participating universities in the Project are the University Ca' Foscari of Venice - Italy, the Second University of Naples - Italy, the University of Malaga - Spain, the University of Jaen - Spain, University of Nantes - France, University Lusiada of Lisbona - Portugal and the University "Kristal" of Tirana. The masters start on the beginning of October respectively on 06.10.2007 and 15.10.2007. The registration process is now open to all the interested candidates. These are international masters and they are open to international students too. The frontal hours will be developed during the weekends - on Suterday and Sunday.

International PhD Programme promoting Anthropology in Central and Eastern
Europe

FULLY FUNDED RESEARCH POSSIBILITIES
AIMED AT EASTERN EUROPEANS PRIMARILY
Marie Curie SocAnth is an EU funded training programme now in its second
year aiming to promote the development of anthropological research and
teaching in Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe.
SocAnth will be offering approximately 14 short term visits to the network
to PhD students from or working in our target region for the next academic
year, beginning in September 2008. This includes one twelve month and a six
month attachment to any non-residents of Romania who wish, while based at
Babes Bolyai University, to research or write about Romania or Moldova.
The 'SocAnth' network comprises: University College London (UCL) and
Goldsmith's College, Britain (GSM); Central European University, Hungary
(CEU); Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Germany (MPISA) and
Babes-Bolyai University, Romania (BBU).

The deadline for next year’s applications will be January 15th 2008.

Comparative Local Development

Call for applications
for incoming mobility of Scholars


The University of Trento, coordinator, (Italy), the Corvinus
University of Budapest (Hungary), the University of Ljubljana
(Slovenia) and the University of Regensburg (Germany) offer a number of

fellowships
for incoming Scholars from non EU countries.

The main objective is to enhance the exchange of teachers and
researchers dealing with issues in Comparative Local Development, also
from an interdisciplinary point of view, in order to share, acquire
and contribute to create knowledge and to pursue research in Local
Development.

The Call is open to scholars submitting research projects for the
study of Local Development in the main disciplinary areas of Law,
Economics, Sociology and the Political Sciences.

The normal length of each fellowship is three months. Scholars will be
able to spend their period at one or more of the Partner Universities.
During this period, they will be requested to conduct research in
Local Development, to participate in the activities of the Joint
European Master in Comparative Local Development, including teaching,
giving seminars and supervising students.

Scholars can make their staying period between September 2008 and
March 2010.

1. Schedule for application
The deadline for submitting the application documentation is
February, 16th, 2008.
In case of documentation sent by mail, only applications which arrive
by the deadline will be considered.

2. Fellowships
A number of fellowships is offered to scholars who meet the
eligibility requirements. The amount of the grants offered is Euro 13,000.
Each fellowship consists of a fixed amount of Euro 1,000 for covering
the travel expenses, and a scholarship of Euro 4,000 per month.

3. Eligibility Requirements and documentation required
In order to qualify for the fellowship the applicant must be a non-EU
country citizenship.

Candidates meeting this requirement are requested to submit the
following documentation:

Letter of Application, including a motivation for applying and the
preference for one or more of the partner universities
CV
List of publications
Research Project

After five years of experience we have the pleasure to announce you a new
start of the application process for the Joint Master Programme in European
Integration and Regionalism offered by University of Graz (Austria),
University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona
(Spain). This joint programme is implemented in cooperation with European
Academy of Bolzano (Italy) and European Institute of Public Administration
(Luxembourg and Barcelona).

The CORE TOPICS are:
- Module I: The Enlarged European Union ( 1 – 12 September 2008, Graz, Austria)
- Module II: Law of the European Union ( 3 – 14 November 2008, Luxembourg)
- Module III: Governance, Public Administration Reform and Economics (19 –
30 January 2009, Zagreb, Croatia)
- Module IV: Regional Affairs: Policies, Structures and Management (23
March – 3 April 2009, Barcelona, Spain)
- Module V: Human Rights, Minorities and Diversity Management (15 – 26 June
2009, Bolzano, Italy)
Applications can be made either to the full Programme or to single modules.
In the latter case, the attendance of a module will lead to the award of a
certificate.

TUITION FEE AND PARTIAL SCOLARSHIPS
The registration fee for the overall Joint Masters programme is 7,500 EUR.
For participants of single modules, a registration fee of 1,500 EUR për
module will be charged. These fees do not include travel expenses or
accommodation, which are to be covered by the participants themselves. The
partner institutions are able to offer a limited number of partial
scholarships which will wave a part of the tuition fee that shall be paid
by the successful applicants.

DEGREE
Successful participants of the Master programme will be jointly awarded by
the University of Graz, the University of Zagreb and the Autonomous
University of Barcelona the academic degree of a "Master of European
Studies" (M.E.S.)

TARGET GROUP
- Civil servants from local, regional or national administrations who
are dealing with EU affairs and therefore require both theoretical and
practical training in EU and regional issues;
- Lawyers, economists, social scientists and others in the employment
of non-governmental organisations wishing to enhance inter-disciplinary
skills and to specialise on different aspects of European integration,
regionalism and diversity;
- Graduate students wishing to acquire a more in-depth understanding of
EU and regional issues, beneficial for a future career in the academia or
even practice-orientated work.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
The deadline for application for the academic year 2008-2009 is 15 June 2008.

START OF THE PROGRAMME
The first module of the academic year 2008-2009 will start on 1 September 2008.

NEW EUROPE MASTER IN BANKING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, Italy
Academic Year 2008/2009

After its first five successful editions, that have involved more than
100 participants coming from Italy and Eastern Europe Countries, the
sixth edition of the "New Europe Master in Banking and
Entrepreneurship" is starting on October 6th 2008.

The Master lasts one year and includes a 3-month internship, a sort of
onthe-job-training in one of the banks belonging to UniCredit Group.
It aims at giving graduates and young professionals the opportunity to
gain specific knowledge of the European Banking System and its
multiple relations with the world of finance and the entrepreneurship.

The Course takes place in Conegliano (TV), inside the premises of the
superb former Franciscan Monastery, a location that allows to couple

Sustainable Development of Agricultural and Rural Areas of the
Adriatic-Ionian Basin - MISS

The Second Lever University Master's Degree MISS foresees the analyses and the discussion of the main topics related to sustainable development, with particular current reference to the countries of the Adriatic-Ionian Basin.
Special attention will be given to specific elements of the agro-food system and to its implications for the European Integration Process, for local, social and economic development, and for environmental and energetic issues.

The programme of the Master is articulated in three interdisciplinary areas, related to international cooperation and internationalisatio n with particular reference to the agricultural and rural development, valorisation of typical agro-food products, sustainable development in its diverse aspects, such as organic farming and bioenergy issues.
The three main areas are the following:
- International Cooperation
- Sustainable Agricultural Development Policies
- Sustainable Rural Development

The Didactic Plan foresees different intervention methods, which in their whole constitute an interdisciplinary didactic offer as complete as possible:
- an on-line module composed of several courses;
- a face-to-face module, which includes classes, workshops, round
tables, field visits;
- seminars and conferences;
- an internship;
- a Master thesis.
The Master Programme is open to graduated candidates (4/5 year’s degree) coming mostly from one of the following scientific areas:
- Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Forestry Sciences, Economics, or related Sciences.
Among the requisites for the participation at the Master Programme are
foreseen both, the knowledge of the English language which will be the working language of the course and a basic knowledge of informatics, necessary for the participation to the distance activities.

The Course on International Security aims to provide to the students a wide and updated overview of the field of International Security. While the first module is dealing with the theoretical framework provided by an approach based on Critical Security Studies, Strategic Studies, and Intelligence, the second, third, and fourth modules are the real case studies. History of the Armed Conflict aims to help the students to
grasp the main differences between the conflicts erupted before and after the end of the Cold War, and more precisely the wars in Bosnia, Uganda, the First and the Second Golf War, the importance of natural and energy resources for conflicts, and a wide understanding of the cause of Ethnic Conflicts. Global Terrorism analyses all the aspect related to the phenomenon of Terrorism. Particular attention is paid to the War on Terror as a social laboratory. Peacekeeping and International Conflict Resolution will provide the strong theoretical framework to understand
all the above confrontations and opens the debate to Human Security, Security and Development, and Civil Military Collaboration approaches as alternative and possible valid solutions for lasting peace in conflict areas. The Course on "International Security" provides 2 American Credit Hours.

The new graduate School of Global Politics, Berlin


Searching for your own path in international academics?
The new Graduate School of Global Politics is your opportunity to set the course for a successful research-oriented career.

The Center for Global Politics, a distinguished Freie Universität
Berlin (FU) institution directed by Prof. Klaus Segbers, is launching a call for applications for its new Graduate School of Global Politics (GSGP). Offering a valuable combination of academic preparation, research and practical experience, the GSGP is the place to acquire knowledge in context and prepare for an outstanding career in research-oriented occupational fields. The integrated German-Chinese program is a cooperative endeavor between Fudan University in Shanghai and Freie Universität Berlin. The FU Berlin, which was successful in the federal and state "Initiative for Excellence", is now one of nine "universities of excellence" in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The GSGP is a 3 year PhD program and involves 8-10 outstanding PhD
candidates from FU Berlin and Fudan University, admitted by both
universities in equal numbers. Special features include:

• Pioneer Concept: the first bi-national German-Chinese PhD program in the social sciences;
• Systematic coursework: in-depth knowledge of theories of
International Relations (IR) and courses on various methodologies best suited for each PhD candidate's field of specialization;
• Scholarship for 6-12 month research stay: an opportunity for
detailed on-the-spot research and an intensive international academic experience;
• High-quality academic monitoring: consultation with three advisors, all renowned scholars, for the whole period of the dissertation;
• Practical experience: various courses in research management,
projects with think tanks, and opportunities for interning;
• Joint certificate: award of a doctoral diploma from the PhD
candidate's home university and a joint certificate from both
universities.

The Center for Global Politics is now inviting students to apply for the GSGP program through Freie Universität Berlin. Those applicants will start April 1, 2009 and spend their research stay at Fudan University in Shanghai. After a successful completion of the program and their dissertation, they will receive a PhD diploma from FU Berlin together with the joint certificate.

• transcript of records from previous degrees, including proof of the successful completion of a Master's degree or equivalent;
• proof of English language ability at Level C1 of CEFR;
• statement of purpose that details the applicant's reasons for
applying to the program as well as the applicant's future career plans (maximum two pages);
• dissertation proposal (maximum five to ten pages) – this should be a convincing, detailed and well elaborated plan for the dissertation and should provide proof that the candidate will be able to finalize the dissertation concept within three years;
• a written statement of the promotion committee (Promotionsausschus s)
of the FU Berlin that admission for the dissertation is possible;
• two expert opinions (Fachgutachten) of professors on the
dissertation proposal;
• a basic knowledge of German and Chinese is advantageous.
