Berlin - Albania is keeping up its fight against corruption and crime, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Wednesday during a visit to the German capital Berlin. Speaking just before an address to German business leaders on investment opportunities, he said, "Albania is very secure country."
The framework for foreign investment had improved and tourist revenues were starting to rise, he said.
Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel told him Germany would help Albania's integration with the rest of Europe, but she gave no indication of when she expected Albania could apply for European Union membership.
She said Berlin wanted Balkan nations like Albania to be in a position to "develop their European outlook." Albania has had a stabilization and association agreement with the EU since 2006.
